‘ ASSIST’ is the Social Development Office for the Trichy Province of the Salesian Sisters. Due to the erection of a new province in Tamilnadu, the new Development Office emerged out of the existing Development Office – ARUWYE in Chennai to function independently catering its service to the 12 Districts in Tamilnadu. ASSIST aspires to improve the living conditions of the poor and marginalized by adopting strategies through community initiative, participation, and sensitization. The organization engages itself with the marginalized and vulnerable groups of the society. Education is the prime area of focus for empowerment through the promotion of employability in order to enable the target group to contribute towards the mainstream development process.
Welcome to ASSIST's WEBSITE, which will introduce you to this vibrant organization at the forefront of community-based development work in 12 districts of Tamilnadu, South India.
I feel blessed to share the journey of ASSIST towards integrated social transformation along with our stakeholders. It has been a year marked with responses to the challenges that propelled us to engage in activities that built the resilience of children, youth and women.
ASSIST envisions an inclusive, equitable, and sustainable society. ASSIST as a synergy source facilitates the transformation in CHILDREN, YOUTH and WOMEN of the communities in our reach, by organizing people & resources as catalyst for socio-cultural & economic positive change and promoting a grid
THRUST AREAS (OBJECTIVES):
1. Increase access to quality education and encourage enrollment in regular schools.
2. To provide skills to youth and add value by way of soft skills and preparedness to enhance employability.
3. Build resilience and promote gender equality by empowering women through Human Rights education and facilitating Entrepreneurship.
